How To Choose The Right Size Yoga Mat?

If you're interested in starting or continuing yoga, you'll need the right equipment. And that includes a yoga mat. The type of mat you choose can make a big difference in your practice. So how do you decide which size to buy? Here's a guide to help.

First, ask yourself what type of yoga you'll be practicing. Asana vary depending on the style of yoga, but most mats will have at least six poses: triangle, crow, cat-cow, bridge, Downward Dog and Upward Dog. If you're new to yoga, start with a basic mat that has these six poses. You can even search online for more information about yoga products.

As your practice progresses and you learn more advanced asanas, buy a more specialized mat. Next, consider your weight and height. When buying a mat, avoid mats that are too thin or too thick for your body type and size.

A general rule of thumb is to buy one size larger than you think you'll need. When you’re starting out, always use a beginner’s mat. It’s designed specifically for new students, and it’s much softer than a regular mat.

This means that your joints won’t get as sore as they would on a more durable mat. Plus, the beginner’s mat is usually smaller in size, which makes it easier to move around.
